Nevin Manimala Notes

Why small websites last

A website with few moving parts has few ways to fail. Plain pages need no database to restore and no plugins to patch, so they keep working during the long stretches when nobody is looking after them.

Maintenance is the real cost

Hosting is rarely what ends a personal site. Neglect does. The less a site asks of its owner, the longer it is likely to stay online.
